k0nfig: "[We did] not trust the players and only trusted the stratbook"

The Dane briefly spoke to HLTV after Ninjas in Pyjamas' elimination from the BLAST.tv Paris Major.
Ninjas in Pyjamas crumbled in their 2-2 qualifying match for the BLAST.tv Paris Major playoffs, conceding an 0-2 defeat to Apeks after letting slip an immense lead on Ancient. The European combine held a 14-3 lead on the map before a disastrous T-side effort allowed Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski's side to comeback and secure victroy in overtime.

Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke had a quick word with HLTV in the mixed zone to give some early thoughts on the loss, something which Ninjas in Pyjamas took some quick time to discuss before coming into the interview area.
k0nfig, commiserations for the loss, that was heartbreaking. Can you tell me how you're feeling right now?
Really, really sad to be honest. This is one of the hardest losses I've ever had in my career. We fell as a team. Stuff like this happens sometimes, but we were of course expecting to go through to the quarter-finals. I think we have fought really good this entire tournament, so I'm proud of the boys, but this is a rough feeling.
It took you a while to come out here to the mixed zone, are you able to share some insight into what you were talking about in there?
We just said what was on top of our minds, and we just had a little quick talk in a circle with everyone and everybody said a few words. I think everybody knows that we threw the game, and yeah... happens.
Speaking a little of that game, you had an immense advantage on Ancient. What do you feel went wrong on that map at the end?
I think we didn't play the game, we didn't do things. As in defaults, I think we were doing too many set rounds. We managed to outplay ourselves a little bit, not trust in our team, not trust the players and only trust the stratbook, and I think that was what let us down today.
It's been a Major full of upsets, or bigger teams going out, NIP among them. What is your perspective on these kind of teams coming into the Major and being able to take down bigger names?
It's insane to see how all players can reunite and build a team that's that strong. And of course that the pressure that the better team has against an underdog, like you expect yourself to win, so I think it's also a mental game.
It's really unlucky that we see all these great teams not play at the Major, and I'm just happy that it's Apeks we lost to. They deserve a real shot on stage and actually show themselves a little bit, and I think they have played well the entire tournament. So yeah, props to them, sad for us.
